In the 17th Century both boys and girls were sent to dame schools at a young age. The ladies were not normally educated much book learning, but were taught to be an excellent housewife. They were instructed the way to cook. They were also instructed the way to spin and weave and knit, not only for dwelling wear but for the shops.
Excellent knitting was a matter of much pride to the knitter, and was well paid for. Many complicated stitches were educated to the girls. The herring-bone being one kind of trend design. There was the fox, and the geese knitting patterns.
The girls were taught by having initials knit into stockings and mittens the way to create trend styles. The alphabet was knit into occasionally even a verse of poetry and mittens.
Young women were instructed to be mild and learn fine embroidery. New vogue Capri Clothing
were made with fine embroidery and sold in the shops. Another fashion style was the making of paper flowers
. They were taught how to paint fine art on velvet. They learned about quilt piecing in a hundred different and challenging designs. They were also instructed just how to make bone lace with bobbins and pillow.
Boys were educated in, Latin Grammar, amongst other matters. The study of writing and reading
was firmly etched on their minds.
The 19th Century (Early Victorian 1837-1869) brought in a fresh fashion craze for women. What a girls desired was curves to enhance their femininity.
The late Victorian period of 1870-1900 seen the fashion corset go a step farther. Curves on women were created by tightly lacing them. The fashion fad was to have an 18 inch waist.
Then along came the 20th Century. Young women went to university and school. They began to compete with men for jobs. What they found challenging to compete with at first was the firm wage construction. The equal equality in every area of life for girls had still not arrived. Guys were the exceptional beings, in the professional areas of life.
However, even if equal wage parity was not being received by young women to men, many received a great income. And a brand new fashion trend was brought in by that scenario. The laddette fashion fad.
With Fashion young women started to go out on the town most nights. They failed to restrict their drinking, the following day even if they were working. A couple of small glasses of wine or spirits had not been enough for them.
They'd see young men gulping large glasses of beer down. In order that they began to drink big glasses of beer.
At closing time, they'd leave the public house, legless. Be sickly and after that fall down. Many young women began to go work feeling quite ill. But that did not deter them from beginning the drinking cycle over a couple of hours after.
As the 21st Century progresses, the clothing vogue trend will evaporate. And, the 19th Century vogue trend will partially re-appear. This time however, girls are able to make use of the corset that is modern to reintroduce their femininity. And they'll still have good wage earning jobs to purchase proper ladies fashion garments.
